The Mill River Property Owners Association serves five neighborhoods and a commercial area situated along the Spokane River, one and a half miles west of Riverstone in Coeur d’Alene Idaho. The Mill River community can be accessed south of Seltice Road on Huetter Road on the West or Grand Mill Road on the East.
The Mill River Property was originally owned by John T Huetter who ran a small brickyard and lumber mill. He sold it to the Ohio Match Company in 1923 who built one of the largest lumber mills along the Spokane River. It was later sold to the Diamond International Corp and was expanded even further. The mill had an average production of 40 million board feet of lumber per year. The highest production on record was 79 million board feet in 1956. The mill eventually was purchased by the Crown Pacific Lumber Company and was in operation until 2001 when it closed due to falling timber prices. In 2004 the property was sold to two local real estate developers, Tom Johnson and Cliff Mort. Their vision and effort created the Mill River community.
The Mill River Waterfront Community was designed to appeal to a variety of homeowners requirements, while still providing top quality construction, done in the classic craftsman style of the early 1900’s with modern conveniences and professional landscaping. All the homes have access to walking trails through-out, private waterfront beach and park designed to bring people together, which encourages a safe and friendly place to live.
